About Mary

With 12 combined years of lessons in vocal performance, piano, and guitar—and three years of experience teaching in private, small group, and classroom settings—Mary Matthew brings a well-rounded musical background to RPM Studios. She is passionate about instilling a genuine love of music in her students and helping them apply foundational skills to real moments in their everyday playing. Whether a student wants to perform for an audience or simply find more joy in their instrument, Mary teaches with clarity, intention, and encouragement.

Teaching Experience

Mary has been teaching music for three years and specializes in guiding beginners through essential technique, rhythm, chord structure, and creative expression.

Fun Fact: An artist who sparked her appreciation for music theory and history is Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who remain among her favorites today.

Mary holds a B.A. in Commercial Music Production from Point Loma Nazarene University. She has also earned several awards and recognitions for her musicianship, including:

  • Bluegrass Female Vocalist & Entertainer of the Year (Ages 13–16) – NACMAI (2019)

  • Traditional Country Female Vocalist of the Year (Adult 21+) – WCCMA (2025)

  • Group of the Year & Co-Writer of Original Song of the Year – WCCMA (multiple years)

  • Merriman Memorial Scholarship (2023)

  • Reed & McFarquhar Endowment Scholarship (2024)

Favorite Part of Teaching

Mary loves watching students hit milestones and push past the same early challenges she once faced herself. Seeing them grow more comfortable and confident with their instrument brings her genuine joy—she celebrates every breakthrough right alongside them.
